An Indian national has been charged with a string of driving offences over a crash that left an elderly couple dead in western Sydney.
The 22-year-old man, who has an international driver's licence, was driving a Nissan Pulsar when it collided with another car about 10pm on Saturday at an intersection in Doonside, NSW Police in a statement on Sunday.
An 81-year-old woman died at the scene while an 83-year-old man was critically injured and taken to Westmead Hospital. He died in hospital on Sunday.
The 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.
He was charged with a string of driving offences including two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
The man was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday.
